Slow Saturday?
Good morning ladies. In our house it is Nascar and basketball weekend so no Olympics here. I cannot wait for the slam dunk contest that is the funniest thing to me. Jani love the new avi you look gorgeous kind of supermodelish....I need a new one maybe I will do that this weekend but that would involve getting dressed and I really am not in the mood to do that yet lol...Have a great love day everyone!!!!
Hey thanks for the compliment Danielle. I didn't get dressed, and obviously the only makeup I had on was left over from the night before. My skin looks sort of roseola-ish, but I thought it really looked like me so that's why I posted it.
My son was looking at pictures from 2008 and he said "who's that? Is that you Mom? That's really a bad picture. I didn't realize you were that big, did you?" I said I knew I was big, but not that bad. Much much better now.

Good morning all!
I'm up and at 'em this morning. Today is school work day and I'm already parked in front of the "big" computer where all that fun learning will happen. If I get done with everything I believe I'll reward myself with a trip to B&N for some book browsing and a Starbucks Skinny Latte. Think I can get it all done by 6:00 tonight? Keep your fingers crossed. LOL
I watched the opening ceremonies last night. LOVED the first part where they featured the Native dancers. I've got Native American heritage and it was exciting to see so many different tribes featured and honored.
I'm still not sleeping and its starting to **** me off. Just uploaded my GoWearFit armband and it's showing I'm averaging 4 hours a night of restless sleep even though I'm in bed 7-8 hours. Hope this doesn't keep up for much longer.
Have a good one all!

Hi Jody -
Warning, this is gonna be long. LOL
The GoWearFit is essentially the same device as the BodyBugg (made by the same company just different software and branding) -- which is what the contestants on The Biggest Loser wear to measure how many calories they've burned and to track their activity. I've had mine since May and I've worn it 24/7 since.
I got mine on Amazon because they offer 3 free months of membership with the purchase -- getting it directly from GoWearFit (now actually called BodyMedia) doesn't give you the free months. The Armband is the main device that you wear on your arm and it collects the date. It'll work by itself but in order to know what your calorie burn and activity numbers are you need to upload it to your computer. There's also the Display Device that electronically communicates with the armband and simply displays the information immediately so you know what you're doing throughout the day.
The Display Device isn't necessary for it to work, but I think it is an essential part of the package. Seeing my calorie numbers go up during the day is a powerful motivator for me to move more. It also tells me what various activities burn.... for instance I burn an extra 10 calories by simply getting up from my desk, walking down the hall to use the restroom and walking back. LOL! I can also set mini goals throughout the day. I know that I need to have burned 1000 calories by noon in order to hit my daily goal. So if I see I'm short at lunchtime I can go out and do a few laps around the parking lot to rack up some extra calories, or if I need to go deliver something in the building to someone and I know I'm short on calories burned, I'll take the stairs instead of the elevator. Seeing the numbers makes me want to move more.
So essentially you wear it all the time and it magically knows how many calories you're burning. Ok, so it's not magic, it's science and has been tested in clinical trials for accuracy and stuff, but it sure does feel like magic. It measures your heart rate, body temperature, movement and perspiration. It tracks your level of activity throughout the day by moderate activity vs. vigorous activity -- based on how many calories per minute you're burning. It'll also give you the number of "steps" you take each day - which is actually more of a movement counter because it tracks body movements, not just steps. For instance I'll wake up in the morning and have logged 300 steps, but really it's the tossing and turning I do in the night that counts as steps.
SO the sleep thing is really cool too. That little device knows when I'm laying down and awake and when I'm actually asleep and tracks the difference. At first I doubted it so I was doing my own manual tracking of when I was awake or asleep and it was exactly right. I swear there's a little lepruchan who sneaks into my bedroom with a stopwatch and tracks when my eyes are closed or not. LOL
You can also track your food intake in their food log. I prefer to keep all my stuff on FitDay since I've been using it for 3+ years ... so I track food there and then input my calorie numbers into the GoWear food log so it can do the math on my calorie deficit.
You can print reports -- weekly, bi-weekly, monthly - that'll show your averages over time. Or you can export all the date into a spreadsheet so you can manipulate the date in whatever way you want. I like to know what I burn on a certain day by averages. So I can run formulas in Excel to tell me what my average Monday calorie burn is, or Saturday burn, etc.
It's also interesting to see the difference in which activities burn more calories. I was amazed to realize that I was burning about the same number of calories power walking a 5k race as when I spent an hour doing major housework and cleaning.
It's a bit pricey but I think it's worth it. It's given me the peace of mind I've needed during this 15 month stall. Without the data and the science I'd constantly be doubting myself with my eating. I'd fall into the trap of thinking I must be eating too much so I'd cut back to an unhealthy level. But seeing the numbers proves to me that I'm doing everything right. It's also given me the freedom to increase my calories without guilt or worry. I KNOW I burn 2100 calories on a sedentary day. So if I eat 1800 calories a day, I'm still in a deficit and won't gain weight. And I did eat that much for a while - but honestly it was too much work to get that many calories in. So now I'm at 1300-1400 calories because that's where my body is happiest at the moment.
Ok, that was really super long. I probably should have just given you the links to my blog so you could read my updates on the topic there. LOL! Here they are: http://pamtremble.blogspot.com/search/label/GoWearFit

Hello everyone! I stayed up late playing on pogo. DH had to work last night (midnight shift) so I was able to have some alone time. I also did some cleaning and food prep. Today we are celebrating my son's 21st birthday, he asked me to make lasagna and german chocolate cake. I still think it is kinda strange that I no longer crave sweets, but I am very happy it is no longer a temptation to me.
